The Journey from Skepticism to Understanding

I was always skeptical about Bitcoin, but the reality is I just didn't understand it enough and didn't take the time to truly understand it until earlier this year. Like many business leaders, I dismissed it as speculative or overly complex without doing the deep work necessary to understand its fundamental value proposition.

The turning point for me was reconnecting with old friends who had become leaders in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency space. Andy Cheung, whom I've known for more than 15 years, is the COO and co-founder of OKX, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges. Raphael Strauch, also a 15+ year friend, is the founder of Token2049, the premier cryptocurrency conference in Asia.

When I caught up with them casually earlier this year, our conversations weren't about convincing me to buy Bitcoin—they were about helping me understand the fundamental shifts in monetary policy, the implications of currency debasement, and the strategic advantages that Bitcoin could provide for companies with strong operational cash flows.

"The most important investment decisions aren't made in isolation—they're made through relationships with people whose judgment you trust and whose expertise you respect."

Then, by chance, I met Tracy Hoyos-Lopez, who had played a crucial role in orange-pilling Donald Trump and helping him understand Bitcoin's strategic importance. Tracy's insights about Bitcoin's role in corporate treasury management and its potential as a hedge against monetary debasement provided the final pieces of the puzzle.

This is when I knew Bitcoin was critical for me and the company. It wasn't about speculation or following trends—it was about understanding that in an environment of monetary debasement and currency instability, holding cash is a depreciating asset, while Bitcoin represents a superior store of value for companies with strong operational performance.

When someone asked me what happens if Bitcoin goes down to $50,000, my response was simple: "Great! We can then buy more at a lower price when others may not be able to do so." Given our strong operational business, we'll still be in a great position regardless of short-term Bitcoin price movements.

"We are not Bitcoin speculators—we are Bitcoin builders. While others chase short-term gains, we're constructing long-term wealth that will compound for decades."

This isn't a short-term play for us on Bitcoin—this is long-term conviction on the value of Bitcoin into the future. The dual-engine approach provides us with the operational stability to maintain discipline during market volatility while capitalizing on opportunities that force other companies to make emotional decisions.

Long-Term Conviction Over Short-Term Volatility

The beauty of our dual-engine strategy is that it provides strategic flexibility during different market conditions. When Bitcoin prices decline, we see opportunity rather than crisis. When healthcare markets become competitive, our Bitcoin treasury provides additional resources for strategic investments.

While single-engine companies are forced to make reactive decisions based on their primary market conditions, our dual-engine approach enables proactive strategy execution regardless of short-term market fluctuations.

Why This Moment Matters

The dual-engine strategy isn't just about Prenetics—it's about pioneering a new model for how companies can create value by operating at the intersection of multiple transformative trends. We're proving that visionary entrepreneurs can build businesses that generate superior returns while contributing to broader societal progress.

Twenty-five years from now, when business historians analyze the most transformative companies of the early 21st century, I believe Prenetics will be remembered as the company that pioneered the dual-engine growth model. We're not just building a successful company—we're demonstrating that the right combination of vision, execution, and timing can create outcomes that seemed impossible to previous generations.

The future belongs to companies that can see patterns others miss, execute strategies others fear to attempt, and create value others thought impossible. The dual-engine revolution is not just our strategy—it's our contribution to the evolution of business itself.
